Please join us for synchronized prayer at 10pm every night. Just as all involved are working hard, we need to commit this musical to God as well!

People who might come
1. God will prepare the hearts of all who are coming
2. The hearts of the audience will be receptive to the Gospel preached through the musical and through Charles
3. For people who have yet to be invited, pray that they will be willing to come.
4. Tuition Ministry has been given postcards to give to the children. Pray that the teachers will take the owership to invite the children to come.
5. Nan Hua BB boys have also been invited. Pray that as Jonathan (a teacher in charge of BB there) invites them, they will be willing to come.

Charles
1. His wrap-up will be clear for pre-believers to understand the Gospel.
2. As he prepares his wrap-up, he will continue to search God and listen to His guidance and wisdom.
3. He will take whatever is in the musical and use as a platform to share the Gospel to the audience.

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him" 1 John 5:14-15

HEY GUYS. GUESS WHO. Initially when they asked me to play the role of Daniel. I though, yeah, cool, I GET TO DO A SCENE WITH LIONS, but yes, sadly, this is not Daniel that was placed in a lions den, not some Daniel Powter (doesn’t mean I don’t sing like him but yeah), not Daniel Radcliff (though I may have that magical effect on you), BUT, D A N I E L. Who’s that? Well if you guys wanna know, then come watch us in action.

So far, my participation in this musical has been absolutely breathtaking, in every way possible. This being my first time involved in such a large scale production, it must be said that meeting up for practices every Saturday night is quite taxing, taking into consideration that many of us are still schooling. (some of us even have to take Os!)
But, God has been good and I must say that through his guidance, we will press on in our bid to turn more hearts to him.

Do remember to keep us in prayer, because at the end of the day, we all have to realize that this is ultimately not simply a musical to entertain others, and we are not performing for ourselves, but for God. Also, since this is an evangelistic event, I certainly do urge all you guys to bring along your friends. So start praying for the friends you plan to bring, so that they may come and be inspired, and ultimately, accept Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour.

"You Are The Light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it inside a basket, but on a lampstand and it gives light to all who are in the house. "Let Your Light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16).

Let us do our best to shine for God! (:

Hey! This is YZ's second Starry Starry Night, but it's also our first attempt at a musical! Having been involved in both, I can truly say that this year's musical definitely requires much more effort and time to put together. Last year, I was one of the singers, focussing mainly on keeping my voice in check, going down for rehearsals once in awhile as the band needed to try out the songs on their own first. The rehearsals weren't that stressful for me as all I needed to be concerned about was getting my pitch and lyrics right. It's quite a individualistic affair for all the singers. We practiced our own songs, planned what we were going to say on our own. Of course, as the date drew closer, practices grew more intense, but most of the pressure still wasn't on the singers, so I didn't feel that much of it.

However, my role in this year's musical is different. I'm now playing the synthi in the band, which of course requires practice every saturday evening. Being in the band is an interesting experience. It isn't the individualistic affair anymore. Everything needs to be done together and chemistry needs to be built between the band members. We need to gel, to listen out for one another, to achieve that "one" sound that a band should have. In addition, we also need to coordinate with the dancers and actors. It's really not as easy as it looks. Of course, I'm fortunate to have very nice band members to work with (: Originally, I thought I'll be very lost, since I have virtually no experience in playing this genre of music. With the help of fellow pianist and the true band ic (although he refuses to admit), Sam Liu, I'm not doing too badly!

Seeing everything piece together bit by bit, I get pretty excited about the actual musical. I haven't seen the entire drama being acted out yet, but I'm sure it'll be great. I think through this musical, a lot of bonds will be formed, between the actors/singers, between the band people, between the dancers, between all who are involved. I'm working with very different people this year, so I'll be getting to know them better through practices!

Do bring your non-christian friends along to watch this musical! We've been putting in a lot of effort to put this together, so I hope that you all can also take the effort to bring your friends along! After all, we have just one aim - to bring others to know about our Lord Jesus Christ. Don't just let this good news stay with you, spread it to your fellow loved ones! One line in yz's mission statement is "assisting people to find freedom in Christ", so let's try to fulfill our mission statement!

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matt 28:19-20

God bless,
Lynn

Hi everyone! Starry is fast approaching and I hope everyone’s psyched about it! So anyway, the actors, band and dancers have been practicing hard so that we’ll be able to have an awesome performance.. which is in about 36 days I think? Yeah so little time left right!

So Dora wants me to post about my experience. Well starry has been a really fun and enjoyable event to be involved in and I think that all of us really have a blast during our practices, but this time’s starry is really quite different from the last one. Last year’s starry starry night comprised just of singing, so the practices were much simpler and less work had to be put into it. This year’s starry starry night on the other hand, is WAY bigger since it’s a musical and all.. meaning I don’t just have to sing, but act and MEMORIZE LINES. Haha to me that’s one of the greatest challenges cause it’s not just like a page of lines, it’s like from a few scenes so there’s actually quite a lot to memorize. And I have to act and get into character and not be bothered about how silly I might look in that particular scene. And apart from all that, there’s school work to handle as well as tests and exams too, considering that it’s my sec four year this year and starry is just merely about a week before my Chinese o’s!:o:o:o But I trust that God will be faithful and He will give me the wisdom to manage my time wisely and help me to do well! School’s definitely getting tougher but I feel that I am able to manage both starry and school rather well. My entire Saturdays are mostly spent in church. Well sometimes I do look at my friends and wonder why I’m turning down an opportunity to go out, have fun and enjoy the weekends like how they do.. but then again, it’s not that I don’t have fun in church too. And I do have fun and enjoy myself during starry! I play a character called Sarah whose parents are going through a separation, and this makes her turn to things like hurting herself in order to ignore all the pain around her. But eventually she, as well as her other friends, gets to know God.

So I’m quite excited about starry since it’s my first time doing something like this. Hopefully everyone else is as excited and please invite your friends to watch the musical too(:

hello everyone!

Starry Starry Night - The Musical was conceived by our very own Rachel who wrote the script while she was preparing for her examinations. God certainly works in mysterious ways! The story is about these 4 friends who are going through different difficulties of their own and how one simple truth that one of them conveys to all of them changes their lives altogether.

It will be an exciting night, seeing our own talents taking the stage in this original production. So we hope to see you there on 23 May 2009.

For more information on ticketing, please feel free to email us at yz.core@gmail.com!
